Chrysler Wrangler

The Chrysler Wrangler is a mid- size compact SUV manufactured by the Chrysler Motor Company. The development of a successor to the YJ began in Chrysler's "Jeep-Truck Engineering Pre-Program" in 1990. From 1991 to 1992 designers worked at the new Chrysler technical centre building on various design proposals. The 2.4 L DOHC 4-cylinder engine previously used on the Chrysler PT Cruiser have changed it and the transmission was 6-speed Chrysler NSG370 manual.

In 2001, DaimlerChrysler commissioned the development of a TJ successor under the "JK" program code for the third generation. The Wrangler JK was introduced at the 2006 North American International Auto Show. The transmission was 5-speed Chrysler 545RFE automatic and 6-speed Chrysler NSG370 manual. At the Defense Systems and Equipment International trade show on 13 September 2007, Chrysler LLC revealed a Wrangler Unlimited version designed for military use dubbed the J8.

The 2012 model, as confirmed by Chrysler received a version of Chrysler's latest V6 engine known as Pentastar. The version used in the 2012 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited produces 285 Hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy for the 2-door model is rated at 17 mpg City / 21 mpg Highway. The Chrysler Vice Chairman Tom Lasorda unveiled a range-extended electric 4-door Wrangler along with similarly engineered Town and Country minivan in September 2008, and it was completely electric sports car.
