Fiat Panda

The Fiat Panda is a city car manufactured by the Italian automobile manufacturer Fiat. The first generation Fiat Panda was introduced in 1980 and was produced till 1986. The Panda was introduced as a cheap, easy to use and maintain, no-frills utility vehicle, positioned in Fiat's range between the 126 and 127. The first Panda was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign. Engines and transmissions for Panda came from the Fiat 127.

In January 1986, the Panda received a facelift with 769 cc (34 bhp) water-cooled 4-cyl unit, and by a 999cc engine. The rear suspension was also upgraded, the solid axle with leaf springs being replaced by a more modern dependent suspension system using a non-straight rigid axle with a central mounting and coil springs.

The second generation Panda has first appeared in 2003. The new Panda was originally intended to be called "Gingo", this name was considered to be similar with the Renault Twingo, so Fiat decided to continue with the Panda. The Panda range was rearranged again in 2009, with the addition of Active Eco and Dynamic Eco models. These models feature with 1.1 and 1.2 petrol engines respectively, with better fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
