Mercedes Convertible

Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is a series of mid-size luxury coupés and convertibles. In 2009 Mercedes ceased to use the CLK designation moving the segment designation back to E-Class Coupe/Convertible instead, as it had called this specific line of its vehicles previously before the CLK moniker was introduced in 1997. The first-generation W208/C208 CLK was introduced in 1997. The W208 coupé was replaced by the W209 CLK-Class in 2002, although the convertible remained in production until 2003 when replaced by the C209 CLK. The CLK 320 Cabriolet and the 279 PS (205 kW; 275 bhp), M113 4.3 L V8-powered CLK430 appeared in 1999.

The 300 SL roadster succeeded the coupé in 1957. The four-cylinder 190SL was more widely produced with 25,881 units, starting in 1955. Cars of the open SL-Class were available as a coupe with a removable hardtop or as a roadster with convertible soft top or with both tops. The R129 model was the first convertible/roadster to offer the automatic rollbar deployment in event of rollover. The motorist can also manually raise and lower the roll-bar should he choose to. This facilitates the clean look of R129 without compromising the occupant's safety.

A roadster version of the SLR went on sale in September 2007. However, as a convertible the roadster was burdened with extra weight, which affected performance and handling. The Roadster roof is made from a "newly developed material" and does not take the form of a folding metal arrangement, as is common on many modern cars. his roadster is aimed to compete against other sports cars such as the Pagani Zonda F Roadster.
